Whats in my bag- Lipstick edition!

Beauty, Lipstick, MAC, Makeup

I am a total lipstick junkie. It is actually insane how many lipsticks I carry around with me on a day to day basis. I’ve been wanting to start a “whats in my bag” post, and what better makeup to focus on than my precious lipsticks! I’m trying to avoid reviewing the ones i’ve already written about so i’m leaving a few of my favorites off the list, but check out some of my older posts if you’re interested!

Mac Korean Candy This color is awesome. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as flattering on my light skin tone as I expected it to, but its a beautiful color and its one of their Sheen Supremes, which I am crazy about. Its a red/orange color, looks more red in the tube and orange on my lips. It glides on like butter and provides moisture for those days when my lip ecfoliator just isnt cutting it and I know a matte isn’t going to work on my lips that day. For such a moisturizing lipstick, I find it lasts pretty much all day. The lipstick itself is flat and circular as opposed to the normal shape of Mac lipsticks but its super easy to apply and I am not bothered by that at all. I am anxiously awaiting the moody blooms collection to get my hands on some new Sheen Supremes!

Rimmel Back to Fuschia I recently finished my Nars Satin Lip pencil in “Yu” which is an amazing hot pink. I’m not currently in the market for another 25 dollar lip pencil so I figured it’d be easier to just find a drug store dupe, and boy did I ever. I had never tried any of their moisture renew lipsticks before, but I was missing out. The packaging is beautiful and numerous people have mistaken the lipstick for urban decay. It comes in a bright purple mirror plastic with a crown on top, because you feel like a total princess when you wear this! It is a true Fuchsia pink with blue undertones that is pretty much exactly the color I was looking for. I like my lipsticks bright and fun, and Back to Fuchsia is no exception. The lipstick is not drying at all but still comes out matte on the lips and lasts me at least the entire morning. If hot pink isn’t your color they have plenty of other nice colors as well, not as many as Revlon or Maybelline but enough for me!

Maybelline Very Cherry When it comes to drugstore lipsticks, you really cant go wrong with Maybelline. They have been a staple of women’s makeup for so many years and while I am not a fan of all of their products, their lipstick formula is on point. This color is my perfect red. I spent a long time searching (mostly at Sephora and other high end makeup counters) and I happened to try this on when I borrowed it from a friend. There it was, my perfect true red smiling back at me! It looks beautiful on your lips straight out of the tube, but I prefer to put it on with a lip brush because I think it keeps it from bleeding. Finding a good red for your complexion can be tricky, and while this is blue based the color seems to flatter many different complexions.

Mac Diva Ahh, my beloved Matte lipstick. I have literally 5 different matte mac lipsticks floating around my bag at any given time, but I figured id go with one I haven’t obsessed over on here as much as the others! This color is a beautiful deep burgundy. Normally, I wouldn’t go for a color such as this but it matched my dress perfectly for my sisters wedding and I knew I wanted to go full out glam and make that my showstopping moment. I love pretty much all Mac lipsticks, but their matte formula must have been made with me in mind. It is super long lasting and not nearly as drying as I find their retro mattes to be. As with any matte lipstick, a little exfoliation and chap stick (wipe off before you apply the lipstick) goes a long way, especially if its for a special occasion. This color will turn heads and give you that sexy vamp look, but I think it’s better reserved for when the summer months are over. I’m still going to keep it in my bag though, just in case!

Loreal Fiery Veil I think this is my only Loreal lipstick I own, but i’m not exactly sure why that is. This color was my first orange and is from the Colour Riche collection. It was more like dipping my toe into the orange trend rather than jumping in head first like I am now. It’s a great lipstick, and it comes in handy for when I want to have orange lips while still looking work appropriate. The lipstick comes in a skinnier tube and glides on so easily. It gives a much more sheer color than any of the previously mentioned lipsticks and could easily be mistaken for a gloss on the lips. Usually I don’t go for the sheer glossy look but this lipstick produces a beautiful color orange that I cant resist. It has a little bit of shimmer to it without that sticky glossy feeling and gives my lips a break from the massive amount of drying I do to them before my Aquaphor regimen at night. For those of you looking for a nice true orange without going over the top, you have met your match.

The Lip Product Addict Tag!

Beauty, Lipstick, Makeup

Naturally, I borrowed this from a fellow blogger sarah loves makeup because I am a total lipstick nut! I couldnt have found a more perfect post that excites me a little bit TOO much! Here goes nothing

 1. Favorite balm/treatment – My current favorite treatment would have to be Avene Cold Cream Lip Balm. This brand is one of my current obsessions. I started with one of their moisturizers for my super dry skin and I knew I had to have more of their products. It has a cooling effect on the lips but without any of that tingling or burning and it really does keep them fresh and revitalized, even with all the matte lipstick I use! It comes in a squeeze tube as opposed to a balm which  makes the product go a little faster, but even so I prefer the squeeze tube.

2. Favorite Eye-Catching Red – Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Very Cherry. Come to think of it, this was one of my very first red lipsticks. When I first started out with makeup I wasn’t too into lipstick, but once I started wearing this shade I realized just exactly how much lipstick can brighten up your entire face. This color is the perfect red for me. It starts more red and as time goes on turns a slight hot pink/reddish stain. No need to break the bank to find your perfect red!

3. Best Luxury – All of my NARS Satin Lip Pencils! As any avid reader may have noticed, I love them and hoard them any chance I get! They are the absolute top of the line in lip products as far as i’m concerned and i’m only waiting for NARS to release more colors!

4. Best Drugstore – I honestly think there are a lot of great drugstore lipsticks out there. Depending on who you ask, many people have their preference and have probably been that way for years. For me, it will always be Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. They glide on creamy, come in all different beautiful shades, and once in a while they come around with some kick ass limited edition packaging that I can never resist! I also must give a shout out to my beloved Rimmel London, even though I am not currently on a Rimmel Kick they will always bring back fond memories and I highly recommend any of their Lipsticks as well!

5. Best Mac Lipstick – Sushi Kiss hands down! If you asked me this a few months ago, I probably would have plead the 5th because I love and covet so many mac lipsticks in all different colors and textures. I had been on the hunt for the perfect bright fun and peachy color and I found all that and more. I love the texture, the color, the staying power, everything about this color is just perfect!

6. Most Disappointing – Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars! I know I already knocked them in my last post on my most disappointing products so I hope their CEO doesn’t end up at my door later. This product looks so beautiful on all the models (They only use Drag Queens as their models which I love because they all look freakin fierce) but it just isn’t what I thought it would be. It applies wet and doesn’t dry the way I expected it to. It kind of just sinks into my lips and then cracks and peels off and way too much product comes out of the tube when you apply it. I think you’re supposed to apply it in conjunction with a clear top coat they sell, but for an extra 18 bucks i’l have to pass. Factor the mini lip brush in there, and you have yourself one big mess of lip tar.

7. Liner? – I haven’t been using much lip liner lately, but Mac will always be my go to. Mac Spice Lip Liner will always be a classic and I really don’t think you can go wrong with it. Everyone should have a nude/brownish lip liner in their makeup case and for some reason Spice seems to work on mostly every person I’ve seen it on.

sephore lip stain

8. Best Gloss – Meh, I really hate lip gloss. I’m going to bend the rules on this one a little bit and go for Sephora lip stain since it technically comes in a gloss like bottle and has a gloss like wand! These stains are awesome. They stay on your lips through everything and every one ive tried comes out gorgeous on the lips. They are not drying or flaky and if i’m not having a lipstick day (that hardly ever happens) it’s nice to have a Sephora lip stain on hand that I know can get the job done.

 9. Something Extra – Cant have a full post on lips without giving two more shoutouts to products I love! Mac Sheen Supreme lipsticks are absolutely awesome and totally underrated! The Mac Moody Blooms collection is coming out on June 26th and they have 5 new sheen supremes that sound AWESOME being released with the collection. Also, Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain is a true winner in my book. Sometimes I will put them under my lipsticks if I know I wont be able to touch up for a long period of time because they provide long lasting color almost all day. They truly do stain your lips, and the color Romantic literally does look like you were just locking lips for the past hour! Throw a little blush on and you have the perfect post-rendezvous look!

All About Blush!

Beauty, Blush, Makeup

I am a total blush junkie. Having fair skin takes a little more work to find products that work well with your skin tone. However, when it comes to blush, I find a wide array of colors and textures that do the job perfectly!

Maybelline Master Glaze Glistening Blush Stick– I had my eye on this product ever since I first spotted it during one of my CVS Hauls. The stick is fairly small and still came to about $9.00. Considering I have so many blushes, I was ready to pass it up. I quickly Google’d some reviews (I’m constantly blocking the CVS aisles while I Google products) and I’m glad I changed my mind. This stick is hands down my favorite blush right now. It is small in size but you use so little product it could last forever. I have the pink fever, which kind of reminds me of the Nars Matte Multiples but at a fraction of the cost. It glides on a beautiful pink without pulling at the skin, produces a slight shimmer and is extremely build-able. The pink color is absolutely beautiful and a true barbie pink. I honestly find that this blush lasts me the entire day. It comes in 5 other shades which all look equally as awesome. Once I finish off some of my other blushes i’m going straight for the coral sheen one. These blushes may be small but they will last you a very long time and come highly recommended.

The Balm “Staniac”– For some reason, The Balm is not sold in many stores in the U.S, but the brand is a true favorite of mine. They have flash sales a lot of the time too so keep an eye out on their website. Staniac comes in a tube with a wand lip gloss type applicator (It can also be used on your lips but I find it drying with not much color payoff on the lips) I have the Prom Queen Shade and it also comes in 2 other shades. Prom queen comes out as a little Pinky-Red and with really only one swipe on each cheek it melts into the skin and provides lasting color all day. It’s not sticky at all like a lip gloss and it truly stains the cheeks for hours. It is a great find!

Tarte cheek stain– This blush is all that and more! Every time I go into Sephora to do my last minute makeup, I reach straight for the Tarte stick. They are super pigmented, last all day, and glide on beautifully straight from the stick. Of course, if you’re looking for a little less color payoff you can go use your fingers for application. I have the Sheer Berry Rose and I am obsessed. It’s a lot deeper of a color than I usually use, its almost like a dark cranberry color on the stick. Once it hits my cheeks, it gives me a serious natural flush, the kind you get after working out (I guess since I have this blush I don’t have to work out? Wishful thinking?) Not to mention their new packaging is SUPER cute. Check out one of their other 7 colors if the deep cranberry isn’t for you, I promise you wont be disappointed.

NARS Blush– I cant do a post on blushes without including any powder! Of course everyone knows the NARS powder blushes are a cult favorite. Everyone talks about these blushes all the time, but it’s cause they’re that amazing.  My personal favorite is the Super Orgasm color. Its a beautiful true long lasting pink with LOTS of shimmer, and I love shimmer. I can’t even wear any luminizer with this blush, it’s that beautiful and shimmery! I also have Exhibit A which is a true hot red but I think this color is better suited for dark skinned beauties. I have to use an extremely light hand when it comes to Exhibit A in order to make it work. NARS has a huge range of all different colors for all different skin tones in this classic blush, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding the perfect shade in whatever color you are looking for whether it be shiny or matte!

The perfect orange lip!

Beauty, Lipstick, Makeup

I am a huge fan of the orange lip, especially for summer. Recently we have seen orange lips popping up all over the place, especially on the red carpet. This is one trend I am all about!

MAC Morange Mac Morange is my go to orange for sure! When I first went orange hunting, I headed straight for my local MAC Counter. I tried on a few different shades (I swear according to MAC there’s like 10 different shades of orange) This lipstick is an Amplified Cream. I actually purchased a few other Amplified Creams after this one. The texture glides on smooth while still looking like a true orange, dare I say even have some matte to it. It is a true bright orange, and definitely a little on the wild side. If you are looking for a real bright in your face orange to take this trend on head first, you have met your match!

NARS Red Square Velvet Matte Lip Pencil– This color is more of an orange red, but it still tilts more towards the orange side. In my opinion, It is a much more wearable shade for every day. I know I talk about these pencils all the time, because they’re THAT good. This one is part of the velvet matte line, and it pulls a little bit tough when being put on your lips. There’s something slightly missing when it comes to application to make it an absolute 10. However, the color is stunning and it ends up looking beautiful on the lips. Whenever I wear this shade, I catch myself oogling my reflection in the mirror. It’s still on the orange trend while producing the mysteriousness of a fiery red.

Revlon Hot Coral I am a huge fan of the Classic Revlon Lipsticks. They glide on like butter, have amazing staying power, beautiful colors, and are high quality at a drugstore price. This color is pretty much exactly what it sounds. A hot orange coral! It comes out beautiful on the lips, keeping them smooth and hydrating and pulling off the trend seamlessly. This is the best bet for trying to pull off Orange without breaking the bank!

Nars Timanfaya Satin Lip Pencil How could I do a post on orange without mentioning this Lip Pencil? Like Morange, it is a true, in your face Orange. The Satin Lip Pencils tend to glide on easier than the Velvet ones, which I feel like is the only difference between the two. It gives me that smooth perfect precision that I look for in a lipstick, but have found in a lip pencil. They can also be used as a lipliner, so you can use it in conjunction with the other lipsticks mentioned and still get a beautiful orange!

7 Deadly Sins!

Beauty, Contour, Hair Product, Lipstick, Makeup, Mascara

For this post, I borrowed an idea from a fellow blogger MOSCHINO AND MASCARA. I have always been intrigued by the seven deadly sins so what better way to share that than with a blog post on my makeup sins!

1. GREED- What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?

My most inexpensive make-up item is my ELF facial shimmer whip! This product, along with plenty of other ELF ones, goes for just 1 dollar! Many people wonder why ELF is so cheap, and assume cheap= crappy but that is NOT the case. ELF does not spend any money on advertising and are spread completely via word of mouth. They also use very simple packaging which keeps costs to a minimum. My most expensive item currently in my makeup case would probably be my Josie Maran Matchmaker Serum Foundation coming in at $48.00. Worth every penny!

2. WRATH- What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Mascara and I definitely have a love/hate relationship! I have very short eyelashes so I love the lengthening aspect but for some reason mascaras always end up looking too dark or overdone on me. I usually keep my face pretty clean as far as makeup goes and sometimes I have a hard time finding the perfect mascara to go with that. Recently, I’ve been using colored mascara which is my new obsession (I will be writing a blog post on colored mascaras soon) I have been using the Maybelline great lash mascara in burgundy, green, or blue and I am LOVING them. This mascara is hands down the holy grail of drug store products, even for those of you who stick with black.

3. GLUTTONY- What are your most delicious beauty products?

My ELF lip exfoliator!

4. SLOTH- What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?

I would have to say any type of contour product. If I really have the time to use different products and make it happen I will but when it comes down to it, in order to look good you really need to spend extra time blending and perfecting. To me, unless i’m being photographed by paparazzi (that never happens) it just isn’t worth it.

5. PRIDE- What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?

Luminizer! I think all a girl needs is a little sun kissed glow to really shine! My personal favorite is The Balm “Mary-Lou” manizer or NARS albatross!

6. LUST- What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

(My boyfriend Steve, the most confident and sexy man I know)

Confidence. I know that’s a super cheesy answer but any guy who feels comfortable in his own skin is most likely going to make me feel comfortable in mine!

7. ENVY-  What items would you most like to receive as a gift?

Obviously MAKEUP. Usually the expensive stuff that I cringe at buying for myself. I love NARS satin lip pencils and lipsticks but they’re at a higher price point than the other lipsticks I own. My last birthday my sister bought me a whole NARS haul of lipsticks and blushes. One of the best presents ever could be something you love but just don’t want to spend on yourself! Dont be afraid to speak up ladies!

Chloe’s go to products

Beauty, Fashion, Makeup

josiemaranJosie Maran Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation When it comes to foundation, I have a hard time finding a color that matches my specific skin tone. I pride myself on having clear and smooth skin, so I look for something with little coverage while still doing its job. With this foundation, it does just that. I can not tell you how exactly this white serum goes on and changes to my skin tone when it hits my face, but it does. It feels almost like a moisturizer on your face, not that icky serum texture you find in a lot of primers. It provides coverage and reduces redness without giving any caked on feeling. It is the perfect base for your makeup and made with all natural ingredients for those of you who take interest in that.

lou The balm “Mary-Lou” Manizer this product is an absolute godsend! I just picked it up a few days ago and I have not put it down since. I absolutely adore illuminizers and I have tried many in my day, this is hands down the best. It provides a lot of shine so it might not be best for those with oily skin. If you use a light hand (I recommend using a small tapered brush on your cheeks, bridge of your nose, and hairline where the light hits) it provides the perfect amount of sheen and gives you that natural luminous glow we all long for!

heroineMac Heroine lipstick Usually, I like to wear bright colors that pop against my skin and go with my “less is more” makeup look. However, this lipstick is amazing. It is described as a “vibrant matte purple” but I have noticed the color definitely varies from person to person. On me, its more of a dark purple that really makes me pop. I was afraid it would be too dark on me at first, but it has proved time and time again to be my perfect go to lipstick.

elfE.l.f Studio Lip Exfoliator For those of you who haven’t heard of elf, I suggest logging onto their website (eyeslipsface.com) right after you finish this post! I’m not sure why this product isn’t a cult favorite yet, but maybe someday. Since you will mostly always finding me rocking a matte lipstick I need something to keep my lips from getting flaky and dry. I use this is the morning in conjunction with a chap-stick (which I wipe off before putting on my matte lip for the day) and my lips stay flawless and flake free. It can definitely feel a little rough on the lips, but for someone who loves matte as much as I do, its a must have.

“Yu” Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil–  This lip pencil is the holy grail for those who either love a good matte lip or are looking to try one. It gives you all the benefits of the look without producing any dryness or peel on the lips. It glides on smoothly with precision and can be used as a lip-liner as well. With the color Yu, it is a vibrant hot pink that stands beautifully all on its own and can last at least 4 hours (providing no meals or coffee of course- anyone who tells you lipstick stays on during meals is LYING, trust me)
