New Makeup Collections for Summer 2014!

Beauty, Blush, Eyebrow, Eyeliner, Eyeshadow, Limited Edition, Lipstick, Makeup, Mascara

This summer is filled with new makeup collections being released from a few of the brands that I absolutely love. I am always excited for a new collection, especially summer ones filled with bright colors and a lot of shimmer!

dioreyesdiorlipdiorblushdiornail

Dior Color Icons Collection- This collection is to be released in the fall, and it is absolutely beautiful. This is their first ever Pre-fall color collection so there will be a lot of buzz around it! The collection has 2 new lipsticks, a 3 color eye shadow palette, 2 single eye shadow palettes,1 liquid eyeliner, 2 fluid sticks, 1 blush, and 3 nail polishes. Dior is out of my price range, but if I was to splurge, it would certainly be on one of their beautiful lipsticks, fluid sticks, or the triple palette because I love all gold eye shadow and I can never have too many. The fluid stick is basically a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss, I have tried them on before and they really stand in a league of their own. At first, this collection will be exclusive to Nordstrom but for those of you that don’t have a Nordstrom near you, just go on their website. Obviously only images have been released so there are no swatches but as soon as I get my hands on the physical products I will review them!

illamasqualipillimasquablush

Illamasqua Matte Effect Collection- This collection is right up my alley! It is to be released sometime this summer. Surprisingly, I have never owned anything from this brand but I hear amazing things about both their blushes and lipsticks. This is a mini collection with just 1 blush and 3 Matte Lip Liquids. The liquids come in clear tubes that look like gloss, go on wet, and apparently dry to matte within seconds. From the swatches I’ve seen, they remind me of the LimeCrime Velvetines that I have written about in an earlier post. I honestly could not choose what color I want, I may have to have them both. Forbidden is a beautiful blue based mid tone pink that reminds me of cotton candy. Surrender is a peachy pale pink color.Exotic is a true bright orange which I obviously am all about. It’s certainly the bolder choice of the three, but it looks beautiful and orange is totally on trend right now. The blush, flirtatious, is a peachy/orangey color that would go great paired with the Exotic lip liquid. Obviously as the name suggests it is completely matte and I think it will pair well with both light and dark complexions because its a very versatile color.

lorac2

Lorac Pro Palette 2- For those of you not familiar with the original Lorac Pro Palette, it is a staple of many eye shadow collections. Obviously not as widely known as the Urban Decay Naked Palette, but its up there. Like its successor, the pro palette 2 has pretty much every color you could want or need, ranging from completely matte to shimmer overload. It has amazing colors for a smokey eye and also colors to complement your every day look. A lot of the colors are pretty basic, but I find the 2 palette has a few more outside the box colors than the first. It is originally being released exclusively at ulta, so again if you don’t have one near you, go for the website. It doesn’t hurt that their website always seems to have some type of special promotion or discount going on!

Beauty, Blush, Hair Chalk, Hair Product, Makeup

I’ve always been a huge fan of urban outfitters. Mostly, I shopped in the stores since there’s a lot in NYC/ Long Island. Since my online shopping has been at full speed, it was only a matter of time before I hit their website. I didn’t even realize what a goldmine I stumbled upon until I finally clicked the beauty section. There it was, the most diverse and overwhelming beauty selection I have ever seen. From all different Japanese brands to colored hair masque’s, I was in awe. Here are some of my favorite selections from their website, I strongly encourage you to check it out.

 thebalmhow boutapples

The Balm Products- The Balm is one of my hardcore favorite brands right now. I am lucky enough to work next door to the biggest Duane Reade in the world (literally) on Wall Street, which has all of the balm cosmetics in stock. Other than that, its pretty hard to come by. Their packaging is always so fun and quirky, and the makeup honestly can not be beat. They come in at a pretty average price for high end makeup, but its well worth every penny. Mary-Lou Manizer is one of my products i’ve consistently written about. It is the most amazing luminizer that has ever touched my face. It’s a beautiful powder with tiny little crystalized pieces that swipe across your face with ease. I use it all over my face and I use it as eyeshadow because I just want to bathe in it. Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer is also amazing. It comes in multiples shades, moisturizes beautifully, and never leaves a sticky or wet feeling. I’m not even a big fan of tinted moisturizer lately but this was just too good not to buy. Lastly, the lip and cream cheek palette is awesome! It comes in the most adorable little package that makes each blush look like an apple which is enough to make me buy it just with that! Their blushes can not be beat, super pigmented and comes in 6 gorgeous, bold, and unique colors.

hairchalk

Hair color masques/chalk- This website has the biggest collection of hair coloring products I have ever seen. With the trend of hair chalking and pastel colors picking up speed, it’s only natural the brands would catch on. No matter what your preference, they will have a product for you. The Manic Panic Classic Cream Hair Dye is awesome. It’s semi-permanent, comes out after a few washes, and comes in so many colors. They also sell a mixture that will pretty much make any color you choose lighter to give it either a pastel or more toned down color. As far as hair chalk choices, the UO Hairchalk Rainbow Set is awesome. For only 14 dollars you literally get 24 different color chalks to play around with. They only last until you wash it out, which is makes it a lot less intimidating than a creme mask. Either way, playing with hair color is an awesome way to express yourself, especially when it’s not permanent!

chloeheadband

Headbands- Urban outfitters has the most amazing selection of headbands in store, so you can only imagine the world their website opened up to me. From Turban, to rhinestone, to flower headbands, they literally have it all. Even for those who don’t think they can pull off the trend, I dare you to browse the site. My favorite is a yellow Watermelon one with a cute little twisty band on it, so cute for the beach or to spice up a plain maxi. I love my jeweled ones as well, that can either be worn across the forehead or to pull back my hair when its acting up, which is like always. I’ve also had my eye on a gold chain headwrap but i’m still trying to determine the level of how ridiculous I would look. Regardless, I’m sure i’l get it anyway.

Passionate about purple!

Beauty, Blush, Eyeshadow, Lipstick, MAC, Makeup

Recently, I’ve been seeing purple popping up all over the place (see the alliteration there) and it is more than worthy of it’s own post! Here are a few ways to rock the purple makeup trend without going too Barney on us.

annasui2

Anna Sui cheek color in mystic rose– this palette is so beautifully packaged, not to mention the actual blush itself is shaped into roses. Regardless, it’s a hefty price tag but I highly reccomend the splurge! I am loving purple blush right now. I actually just ordered some random japanese brand of lilac purple from urban outfitters (random day of free shipping- I can’t stand paying more for shipping than the actual makeup itself) but il let you know how it goes. OK back to the beautiful anna sui blush. This is magical, especially for us fair skinned ladies. It has an incredible glow and comes out almost sheer if you use it lightly or a deep mauve if you build it up. It’s an extremely versatile color and I’ve seen it look totally different on everyone. For those with darker skin, it could work as an illuminizer with a just a hint more color. Either way it is like crack or fairy dust or fairy dust crack .

macvioletta

Mac violetta– I spend a lot of time talking about my heroine lipstick, but I also need to give credit where it’s due. This color is bold and bangin. It makes me feel like a cool 90s chick with a pony tail and spaghetti strap slip. It is a bold neon purple much lighter and brighter than heroine. With it being summer and all, I may have to put the dark colors away for a little and bring out beautiful bright ones like this color. They also come in one of macs palettes of 6 lip colors in “preferred pink” and pretty much every color is on point, not to mention it’s a great deal.

lancomepallette

Lancôme pink envy color design eyeshadow palette– don’t be fooled by the name, this palette is filled with wonderful purples for everyone. Since purple is such a hot color right now, I wouldn’t feel right just telling you one to wear one shade on your lids. This palette comes with 5 different colors. 3 of which are different shades of purple. One is lilac, one is mauve, and one is a bold sparkly deep purple. The other 2 shades are both shades of silver one deep one light and shiny, along with a brush that both lines and applys the shadow. You can’t go wrong with this palette and if you like any of the colors seperately you can buy in a single palette as well. Lancôme has very reliable products and their eyeshadow formula is truly top notch.

MAC Moody Blooms Collection!

Beauty, Blush, Bronzer, Fluid Liner, Limited Edition, Lipstick, MAC, Makeup, Moody Blooms

This is the post I have most been looking forward to! As you may know, I am a MAC junkie as i’m sure plenty of you are too. This collection is to be released on June 26th in the U.S but I WANT IT NOW! As with all limited edition MAC collections, I am sure the best items will sell out super fast so it’s good to have an idea of what you like from the collection so you can pounce when it’s released!

moodybloomsshadow

Mac Moody Blooms Eye shadows- This collection is blowing me away. I don’t usually use many MAC eye shadows, not for any specific reasons but I tend to stick with what I know. For this collection, I will be heading straight out of my comfort zone and straight to the MAC counter. They are releasing 6 colors, 4 of which are the Veluxe Pearl textures. They are Artistic License (a shimmery peach) Lucky Green (a shimmery apple green) Deep Fixation (shimmery burgundy) and Hidden Motive (deep plum). The other 2 shadows include Blooming Mad (a purple frost) and Green room (a jungle green satin) Each of these colors are BEAUTIFUL. I usually know exactly which products I want from a collection but I would take any of the eye shadows I can get. I can not wait to try these shadows and I will provide an updated review as soon as I can get my hands on them!

macfluidline

Mac Moody Blooms Fluidline- I’m not really an avid fluidline user but I know many MAC babes love liquid liner! The 3 shades they are releasing are as follows. Copperthorne (a shimmy copper,as the name suggest), Black Ivy (just looks like black from the pictures and swatches I saw) and Nightshade which is a purple/burgundy color. For those who love liquid liners, it looks like you’re in for a treat with this collection

moodybloomssheene

MAC Moody Blooms Sheen Supreme Lipstick- I have heard from a few people that they’re disappointed MAC isn’t releasing any of their standard lipsticks with this collection. It looks like they are focusing solely on Sheen Supreme lipsticks which makes me happy because I think they deserve a lot more exposure then they get! The colors are as follows. Moody Bloom (Looks like a dark nude/ light brownish color but I really cant tell how it will look on the lips) Phosphorescent (gorgeous cotton candy pink that reminds me of Candy Yum Yum in the swatches) Pheromonal (hot pink/ magenta) Quite the thing (a bluish pink) Lust extract (a purple/fuschia color- my favorite of the bunch!) and Venomous Violet (a deep dark violet, probably not for the faint of heart)

moodyliptint

Mac Moody Blooms Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tint- I am usually not a fan of Mac lipglass but it seems like they are trying out a new formula! I’ve noticed with the Sharon Osbourne for Mac collection that they came out with those marker lipsticks, so maybe they’re trying to find the next new lippie innovation. They remind me of the Stila lip gloss in that they come in a little tube with a brush and you twist the bottom to release more product. Either way, these look awesome and I’m anxious to try them! The colors are as follows. Simply wow (plum/pink), Bubble gum (light pink), Glorious Intent (shimmery purple), Blushing Berry (a deep mauve) and Gwo-yo-mi (A fuschia pink) Obviously these colors will come out lighter than they appear due to the sheer nature of the lipglass but they all look beautiful!

moodyblush

Mac Moody Blooms Powder Blush- I also love Mac blush so I am equally as excited for some new choices! Bred for Beauty (a true matte bubble gum pink) is more on the blush spectrum while Worldly wealth (a frosty bronze) looks much more like a bronzer! I can never tell with MAC colors how it will swatch based on the color in the pan, but again I will update you as soon as I am able to try the products!

moodymascara

Mac False Lashes Mascara and 2  new brushes- I’m not sure what exactly is new about this mascara since I have seen this name before (Mac tends to recycle names a few years later with their collections, I have no idea why) but the packaging looks slightly different. The tube is shaped so there is a handle on the wand for better precision but if this is just another release on the colored False Lashes Mascara from 2013, I am on board since those have an awesome clump free formula! The new 211 brush would pair great with with the Fluidline. The 239 brush is perfect for any of the new eyeshadows, a great excuse to pick up a brush as well!

Beauty Products I Regret Purchasing!

Beauty, Blush, Lipstick, Makeup, Mascara

 macflatoutfab

Mac Flat Out Fabulous Lipstick- Before everyone kills me, I LOVE MAC, I always have and I always will. For this reason alone, I feel I have the right to say that I am not a fan of the retro matte! I’m not sure if its the formula or just this specific lipsticks (ive had weird instances where i’ve bought a 2nd tube of a lipstick I loved from Mac and it will feel slightly different in texture) but this is the only retro matte I own and I am NOT a fan. The color is beautiful, but the lipstick tugs at my lips super hard, flakes almost right away, and is ridiculously drying. Most of my Mac lipsticks, even my mattes, tend to me at least slightly moisturizing, but not this one. It goes on thick and dry and makes my lips feel like they need to be bathed in Aquaphor!

maybellinelashstil

Maybelline New York Lash Stilletto Ultimate Length Mascara- When it comes to mascara, I focus solely on length. I have come to the sad conclusion that my lashes will never be dark and mysterious, and I am okay with that. What I am NOT okay with is this mascara. The wand is super long and skinny. I assumed this would be to my advantage but all it does is clump your eyelashes together into little groups. It gave me those gross dark thick goopy lashes that no one wants to sit across the table from. I tried it out a couple of times since I hate letting products go to waste and after a few times it was already all dried up and clumpy. This is one of those drugstore products that just can’t compare to high end.

occliptar

OCC Lip Tar- Oh, how I wanted to like this product. It was all there, beautiful bold colors, cruelty free, matte, and quirky! I wasn’t so keen on the idea of the lip brush but I figured it was worth a shot. I was wrong. I expected the lip tar to be a light creamy liquid that turns matte on your lips. Instead it was a thick goopy mess that only turned the tiny lip brush they gave me into an even bigger mess.It felt wet on my lips for the full hour I wore it until I couldn’t stand it anymore. It peeled off in clumpy chunks on my lips and I couldn’t even get it to look even and line my lips. It literally look like a sploch of paint flew at me and hit me in the lips, not the look I was going for.

elftocrop

ELF HD Blush- This was one of those products that didn’t break the bank, but it was still extremely disappointing. I was going through a cream blush phase when I bought this because I was trying to avoid buying the Perricone MD No Blush Blush (Also on my beauty wishlist but that’s another post for another day!) The first one I bought had a defective pump, but I didn’t let that get me down. Once my second one arrived it had a nice consistency to it, but that’s where it ends. With just a tiny pump of the Diva color that I got, it pumps out enough for 10 uses (seriously). There is pretty much no way to put this on without looking like a clown. It is so ridiculously over pigmented that it’s just a disaster waiting to happen. Even the woman at the store had no answer for me when I inquired about how to get less product out of the tube and why I looked like a crazy old lady. I usually love ELF products so don’t let this deter you, just steer clear of this blush unless you plan on being the clown at your nephews birthday party.

wetnwild

Wet N Wild MegaLast Lip Color- I am all for a good cheap lipstick! In fact, I think out of every beauty product that one is the easiest to get at a high quality for a low price. With this lipstick being only 2 dollars at my local CVS, I grabbed one on a day when I forgot my lipstick bag at home (the horror!) Lets just say I ended up not even wearing a lip color, that’s how bad it was. I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but this is terrible. It is very odd shaped circle so it makes it hard to apply in the first place. It goes on your lips tight and extremely dry. It literally pulls your lip as you apply it and bleeds all over, even in conjunction with a lipliner. I honestly can not see anyone enjoying wearing this lipstick.

All About Blush!

Beauty, Blush, Makeup

I am a total blush junkie. Having fair skin takes a little more work to find products that work well with your skin tone. However, when it comes to blush, I find a wide array of colors and textures that do the job perfectly!

masterglaze

Maybelline Master Glaze Glistening Blush Stick– I had my eye on this product ever since I first spotted it during one of my CVS Hauls. The stick is fairly small and still came to about $9.00. Considering I have so many blushes, I was ready to pass it up. I quickly Google’d some reviews (I’m constantly blocking the CVS aisles while I Google products) and I’m glad I changed my mind. This stick is hands down my favorite blush right now. It is small in size but you use so little product it could last forever. I have the pink fever, which kind of reminds me of the Nars Matte Multiples but at a fraction of the cost. It glides on a beautiful pink without pulling at the skin, produces a slight shimmer and is extremely build-able. The pink color is absolutely beautiful and a true barbie pink. I honestly find that this blush lasts me the entire day. It comes in 5 other shades which all look equally as awesome. Once I finish off some of my other blushes i’m going straight for the coral sheen one. These blushes may be small but they will last you a very long time and come highly recommended.

staiatic

The Balm “Staniac”– For some reason, The Balm is not sold in many stores in the U.S, but the brand is a true favorite of mine. They have flash sales a lot of the time too so keep an eye out on their website. Staniac comes in a tube with a wand lip gloss type applicator (It can also be used on your lips but I find it drying with not much color payoff on the lips) I have the Prom Queen Shade and it also comes in 2 other shades. Prom queen comes out as a little Pinky-Red and with really only one swipe on each cheek it melts into the skin and provides lasting color all day. It’s not sticky at all like a lip gloss and it truly stains the cheeks for hours. It is a great find!

tarte2

Tarte cheek stain– This blush is all that and more! Every time I go into Sephora to do my last minute makeup, I reach straight for the Tarte stick. They are super pigmented, last all day, and glide on beautifully straight from the stick. Of course, if you’re looking for a little less color payoff you can go use your fingers for application. I have the Sheer Berry Rose and I am obsessed. It’s a lot deeper of a color than I usually use, its almost like a dark cranberry color on the stick. Once it hits my cheeks, it gives me a serious natural flush, the kind you get after working out (I guess since I have this blush I don’t have to work out? Wishful thinking?) Not to mention their new packaging is SUPER cute. Check out one of their other 7 colors if the deep cranberry isn’t for you, I promise you wont be disappointed.

superorgasm

NARS Blush– I cant do a post on blushes without including any powder! Of course everyone knows the NARS powder blushes are a cult favorite. Everyone talks about these blushes all the time, but it’s cause they’re that amazing.  My personal favorite is the Super Orgasm color. Its a beautiful true long lasting pink with LOTS of shimmer, and I love shimmer. I can’t even wear any luminizer with this blush, it’s that beautiful and shimmery! I also have Exhibit A which is a true hot red but I think this color is better suited for dark skinned beauties. I have to use an extremely light hand when it comes to Exhibit A in order to make it work. NARS has a huge range of all different colors for all different skin tones in this classic blush, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding the perfect shade in whatever color you are looking for whether it be shiny or matte!
