Urbanoutfitters.com Beauty Bests

Beauty, Blush, Hair Chalk, Hair Product, Makeup

I’ve always been a huge fan of urban outfitters. Mostly, I shopped in the stores since there’s a lot in NYC/ Long Island. Since my online shopping has been at full speed, it was only a matter of time before I hit their website. I didn’t even realize what a goldmine I stumbled upon until I finally clicked the beauty section. There it was, the most diverse and overwhelming beauty selection I have ever seen. From all different Japanese brands to colored hair masque’s, I was in awe. Here are some of my favorite selections from their website, I strongly encourage you to check it out.

The Balm Products- The Balm is one of my hardcore favorite brands right now. I am lucky enough to work next door to the biggest Duane Reade in the world (literally) on Wall Street, which has all of the balm cosmetics in stock. Other than that, its pretty hard to come by. Their packaging is always so fun and quirky, and the makeup honestly can not be beat. They come in at a pretty average price for high end makeup, but its well worth every penny. Mary-Lou Manizer is one of my products i’ve consistently written about. It is the most amazing luminizer that has ever touched my face. It’s a beautiful powder with tiny little crystalized pieces that swipe across your face with ease. I use it all over my face and I use it as eyeshadow because I just want to bathe in it. Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer is also amazing. It comes in multiples shades, moisturizes beautifully, and never leaves a sticky or wet feeling. I’m not even a big fan of tinted moisturizer lately but this was just too good not to buy. Lastly, the lip and cream cheek palette is awesome! It comes in the most adorable little package that makes each blush look like an apple which is enough to make me buy it just with that! Their blushes can not be beat, super pigmented and comes in 6 gorgeous, bold, and unique colors.

Hair color masques/chalk- This website has the biggest collection of hair coloring products I have ever seen. With the trend of hair chalking and pastel colors picking up speed, it’s only natural the brands would catch on. No matter what your preference, they will have a product for you. The Manic Panic Classic Cream Hair Dye is awesome. It’s semi-permanent, comes out after a few washes, and comes in so many colors. They also sell a mixture that will pretty much make any color you choose lighter to give it either a pastel or more toned down color. As far as hair chalk choices, the UO Hairchalk Rainbow Set is awesome. For only 14 dollars you literally get 24 different color chalks to play around with. They only last until you wash it out, which is makes it a lot less intimidating than a creme mask. Either way, playing with hair color is an awesome way to express yourself, especially when it’s not permanent!

Headbands- Urban outfitters has the most amazing selection of headbands in store, so you can only imagine the world their website opened up to me. From Turban, to rhinestone, to flower headbands, they literally have it all. Even for those who don’t think they can pull off the trend, I dare you to browse the site. My favorite is a yellow Watermelon one with a cute little twisty band on it, so cute for the beach or to spice up a plain maxi. I love my jeweled ones as well, that can either be worn across the forehead or to pull back my hair when its acting up, which is like always. I’ve also had my eye on a gold chain headwrap but i’m still trying to determine the level of how ridiculous I would look. Regardless, I’m sure i’l get it anyway.

Best Drug Store Products!!

Beauty, Hair Product, Lipstick, Makeup, Mascara

As you may have noticed I am a product junkie, and by product I mean anything you can get in the drug store and use to make you more beautiful! Here are my top products I reach for during my drug store haul

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque- This face mask is the only one I currently use because it is that good. It comes out a thick cream that you lather all over your face and let dry for 15 minutes. I finally bought this product after hearing about it for so long and for 3 dollars I figured why not.  It magically shrinks your pores and makes your skin feel smooth and refreshed. It can also be used as a spot treatment over night for pimples and it literally dries them out overnight. I can use it twice a week without any problems on my skin whereas with other masks I’m always prone to breakouts. At just 3 dollars, this product is well worth it. I have a feeling you wont look back!

Eucerin Aquaphor- I am OBSESSED with Aquaphor. I mainly use it on for my lips every night before I go to bed and it keeps them feeling hydrated all through the night. In the winter I probably use it at least 5 times a day. It can also be used on skin irritations and minor burns. They recently came out with a lip repair that I am yet to purchase because my beloved tub by my bed does the job. I can imagine that would be fabulous as well. I know this product is pretty basic but for me it will always be a lifesaver. They come in all different sizes as well!

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara- I know many people swear by this mascara, and I am a true convert. I used to be a bit of a mascara snob because I figured that its a tough formula to get right and I just didn’t have faith in my beloved Maybelline. (I also had the mascara sampler kit from Sephora and it lasted like forever; Note to self, purchase if it ever comes around again) Once the colored mascaras came out, I was intrigued and I finally saw what everyone was talking about! These mascaras go on smooth and clump free and really give me the length and fullness I am looking for! For some reason I feel like they dry out slower than most other mascaras too. The colors are awesome if you’re into that sort of thing, which I totally am. Colored mascara is my jam!

Garnier Fructis Style Damage Eraser Reconstruct Butter- I wrote about this under hair products that I can’t live without, but it deserves to get more recognition! This is the ultimate when it comes to hair masks and as far as i’m concerned, there’s really nothing better. Just soak in the shower with or without a shower cap for like 10 minutes while you wash up and shave and voila! Beautiful smooth silky hair not only wet fresh out of the shower but silky smooth when dry as well. I find so many hair masks to be ridiculously expensive but for the price, this mask in an A+.

Revlon Fire & Ice Lipstick- This is part of their Super Lustrous Creme line. Frankly, all of Revlons lipsticks are awesome but this collection really has me hooked. As the name suggests, the lipstick is nice and creamy but not in a way where it bleeds or gets all over you. It’s moisturizing without looking wet and should really be a staple of everyone’s makeup drawer. Fire and Ice is a beautiful combination of red orange and pink (I didn’t know this color even existed but it does!) For those who like a sexy red lip with a twist, you cant go wrong with Fire and Ice or Revlon for that matter!

7 Deadly Sins!

Beauty, Contour, Hair Product, Lipstick, Makeup, Mascara

For this post, I borrowed an idea from a fellow blogger MOSCHINO AND MASCARA. I have always been intrigued by the seven deadly sins so what better way to share that than with a blog post on my makeup sins!

1. GREED- What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?

My most inexpensive make-up item is my ELF facial shimmer whip! This product, along with plenty of other ELF ones, goes for just 1 dollar! Many people wonder why ELF is so cheap, and assume cheap= crappy but that is NOT the case. ELF does not spend any money on advertising and are spread completely via word of mouth. They also use very simple packaging which keeps costs to a minimum. My most expensive item currently in my makeup case would probably be my Josie Maran Matchmaker Serum Foundation coming in at $48.00. Worth every penny!

2. WRATH- What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Mascara and I definitely have a love/hate relationship! I have very short eyelashes so I love the lengthening aspect but for some reason mascaras always end up looking too dark or overdone on me. I usually keep my face pretty clean as far as makeup goes and sometimes I have a hard time finding the perfect mascara to go with that. Recently, I’ve been using colored mascara which is my new obsession (I will be writing a blog post on colored mascaras soon) I have been using the Maybelline great lash mascara in burgundy, green, or blue and I am LOVING them. This mascara is hands down the holy grail of drug store products, even for those of you who stick with black.

3. GLUTTONY- What are your most delicious beauty products?

My ELF lip exfoliator!

4. SLOTH- What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?

I would have to say any type of contour product. If I really have the time to use different products and make it happen I will but when it comes down to it, in order to look good you really need to spend extra time blending and perfecting. To me, unless i’m being photographed by paparazzi (that never happens) it just isn’t worth it.

5. PRIDE- What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?

Luminizer! I think all a girl needs is a little sun kissed glow to really shine! My personal favorite is The Balm “Mary-Lou” manizer or NARS albatross!

6. LUST- What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

(My boyfriend Steve, the most confident and sexy man I know)

Confidence. I know that’s a super cheesy answer but any guy who feels comfortable in his own skin is most likely going to make me feel comfortable in mine!

7. ENVY-  What items would you most like to receive as a gift?

Obviously MAKEUP. Usually the expensive stuff that I cringe at buying for myself. I love NARS satin lip pencils and lipsticks but they’re at a higher price point than the other lipsticks I own. My last birthday my sister bought me a whole NARS haul of lipsticks and blushes. One of the best presents ever could be something you love but just don’t want to spend on yourself! Dont be afraid to speak up ladies!

Hair Products that I can’t live without!

Beauty, Hair Product

Devacurl light defining gel Trust me, I know the word gel can be very intimidating. I normally shy away from anything even slightly resembling the product that made my hair stiff straw curls cause it was the “in” look in middle school. As long as you only use a few squeezes on a full head of hair, it doesn’t give any stiffness at all. It simply molds the hair and keeps it from going all over the place. It’s perfect when going for the air dried look that all these “magical sea salt sprays” claim to give, but hardly ever do.

Oribe Dry Conditioner– Oribe is going to be one of those brands that you will see frequently here on quirkybeauties. This product is the holy grail for dry (not wet) hair. I have always had trouble finding a good product to use on 2 day old hair besides dry shampoo, but here it is. Dry conditioner, my new best friend. A few sprays on the ends of your hair and it’s beautiful bouncy and tangle free. My hair always looks better after a round of this dry conditioner then it did when I first styled it. It almost sounds too good to be true but it is true! I swear!

Garnier Fructis Style Damage Eraser Reconstruct Butter– I’m always on the hunt for a good hair mask. I love giving my hair a good soak once a week in either a nice deep conditioner or hair mask (I’m still working on figuring out the difference, if you know please enlighten me) I use this after my regular conditioner on my wet hair in the shower, pop on a shower cap, and leave it for 5-10 minutes, depending on my patience. Once you rinse it out, your hair literally feels like butter. You should try it in order to see what I mean and for the price, it is well worth it.

its a 10

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in Product This product is the perfect thing for people with knotty hair like myself. It untangles your hair ridiculously fast with only a few sprays. The bottle seems small for your money, but you really don’t need to use much. I only have good things to say about the entire Its a 10 line, and this product only reinforces it. If you need a little extra help after conditioning, this will take you a long way. Oh, and it also claims to do 10 other things for your hair, but detangling is pretty much the best part.

Loreal Sulfate Free Ever Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner– To be completely honest, I usually cant tell most shampoos apart. No matter what I use, I know i’m almost always going to be slathering products in it after I get out of the shower. The only reason I purchased this set was after my keratin treatment (which I swear by) that requires me to use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I’m not sure if its the sulfate free part, or something else, but my hair is ridiculously smooth and shiny just upon exiting the shower. It produces a nice foamy texture and smells amazing as well. The line carries a few different types, I’ve only tried the eversleek, but if you’re looking for a good post-keratin shampoo or just looking to take the sulfate free route, this is it.
